From July 15 to 30, 2023, Penang, Malaysia will welcome a unique celebration - RISO ART JAM, a special celebration of art and creativity organised by Hasuriso to explore a unique approach to printmaking - Riso Art! It brings together artists and art lovers from around the world for this creative and artistic celebration. ๐๐
๐ This festival contains three exciting components: Forum, Bazaar and an Exhibition, all based on Risography, providing a unique platform for artists to showcase RISO prints and engage with a wider audience of like-minded people. This exciting event will be held at the Georgetown Arts Festival to celebrate together the birth of RISO Art, proudly presented by Studio Tsubaki, Hasuriso Riso Experience Centre and other partners who share a passion for this beautiful method of printing that originated in Japan, and to bring this exciting art form to Malaysia for the first time.

๐ผ๏ธ Malaysia's first ever RISO Art Exhibition will feature RISO art prints from around the world. We have invited artists of RISO prints to contribute their artworks to this unique exhibition, which is expected to showcase over 100 pieces. The unique textures and vibrant colours of RISO printing innovations will be a feast for the eyes. The exhibition will be held at Whiteaways Arcade in Malaysia from July 15 to July 30, 2023, and admission is free.

~ Jay and Vivian's passion has shaped their lives through exposure to design trends and conversations in Taiwan, and now they plan to start the first Riso Art Festival in Malaysia to promote RISO art.
๐ Witti Studio - Creative Studio, Riso Print Maker, Thailand
~ Witti Studio, based in Bangkok, Thailand, combines the passion and expertise of Wittamon Niwattichai and Santi Tonsukha to offer solutions that span different design disciplines. They use a special non-toxic, eco-friendly rice bran oil palette to produce RISO prints with a unique look and feel.
๐ Takako Masuki - Graphic designer, Illustrator, Japan
~ ASIAN_FOOD_DESIGN is a project initiated by graphic designer and illustrator Takako Masuki, focusing on Asian cuisine and creating magazines and other works using RISO printing techniques.
๐ Bang Bang Zine - Zine Brand, Print Publication, Malaysia
~ Bang Bang Zine (BBZ) is a zine brand and print publication founded by Mun Yeong, Shermene and Chya Chyi, centred on storytelling through illustration. They infuse a variety of creative features to explore the possibilities of visual narrative.
๐ Vanessa Lim - Illustrator, Visual Artist, Singapore
~ Vanessa Lim is an independent illustrator and visual artist who uses books and prints as a form of art and archive. She has designed and self-published a series of works covering the fields of art books and magazines.
๐ Book of Lai - Artist, Illustrator, Malaysia
~ Book of Lai is a highly acclaimed Malaysian artist focusing on fascinating digital artworks influenced by fantasy stories and van life culture. He established Studio Behind 90 and has created exceptional illustrations for well-known clients such as Netflix, Snapchat and Puma.
They will share their experiences and insights in the field of RISO art in the forum, bringing us an enlightening and creative sparking exchange. An exciting forum not to be missed! Here is your chance to learn from those in the field, discover new techniques and explore the dynamic world of Riso printing. Two days of lively discussions, networking opportunities and inspiring presentations that will spark your creativity. This is a ticketed event and admission is only available to holders of valid tickets. Tickets are priced at RM60 for a single day pass and RM100 for a two-day pass.
