About Me
Fashion and costume designer who has worked on multiple fashions and costume design projects including theatrical productions, musical, art festivals, company special events, and print advertising.
Head costume designer for numerous theatrical, dance productions, print advertising campaigns, commercial and editorial fashion photoshoots. This includes coordinating model and performers, hair and makeup, venue and photographer bookings.
Responsibilities included interpretation of client’s image goals, meetings with artists, directors, agencies, and producers to decide and define their needs, involve research, design, concept, and theme development.
Deal with local/foreign suppliers in sampling & production. Liaising with in-house workroom and vendor on any build projects and managing a crew of assistants to execute the job's needs, making certain that the budget restrictions were respected.
Shopping was done at boutiques, costumes stores, or designed and built/sewed for them. I often needed to create a concept or theme for their image and presented it in illustration, sketches with fabric swatches. From 2010 to the present, most of the garments and costumes were made and sewed by myself and my assistants to ensure the outcome fulfill the client’s needs.
Working as a costume designer and actor/crew in numerous theatre productions for the past 7 years trains me able to analyze the characteristics of the character and garments, style, and advanced the characteristics and personality to ensure it stands out in front of the audience’s eyes. Every single detail of the costume is always considered ensuring it works perfectly on performers and is able to create a compatible visual impact once it is applied with lighting, set design, and music.

A Costume Theatre, live performance produced by Quito Neng, it was a first ever costume theatre in Malaysia, an experimental art form created by local artist, dancers and designers. A costume theatre* performance inspired from the illustrations by influential Edo-period Japanese artist Toriyama Sekien’s (1712-1788) - Night Parade of Hundred Demons. (*Costume Theatre - Create characters from the image and costume design, explore the metaphorical relationship between the characters, and develop the story. Costume design is the core of the performance in Costume Theatre, allowing the audience to discover the hidden characteristics through costume design.
